Mary Lou Weathers

81 of RR Abingdon died at 4:55 pm Sunday, December 17, 2006 at the Care Center of Abingdon. She was born on October 7, 1925 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Paul Glen and Harriett Louise Cratty Paden. She married John F. Weathers on July 16, 1948 in Rock Island. He preceded her in death on November 11, 1990. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one son, Michael Weathers and one sister, Mildred. Surviving is one daughter, Diane (and John R.) Thurman of Hermon; a sister, Shirley Stiles of Galesburg; 3 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren and 3 step great-grandchildren. She graduated from St. Joseph Academy in Galesburg in 1943. She had lived in the Abingdon area most of her adult life. She worked at Admiral/Maytag in Galesburg for 30 years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Abingdon and the Altar & Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381 Auxiliary. She loved bowling, bingo and card playing. She was very proud of her Irish heritage. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Father Joseph Presley will officiate. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Tuesday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel with the Rosary Service at 8:00 pm. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or American Legion Post #381.
