Max Naugle Obituary

86 of 503 N. Austin Ave. died at 9:50 am Monday, March 10, 2008 at the Care Center of Abingdon. He was born on May 1, 1921 to William F. and Jocie A. (Ryner) Naugle of Alexis, IL. He graduated from Alexis High School. After graduation, he farmed in the Alexis area. He then married Imogene Best, the mother of his six children. He then moved to the Abingdon area after starting work at Maytag, where he retired from after working for 20 years. He owned and operated M & W Auto Parts in St. Augustine, IL, was a commercial fisherman in the Oquawka area for over 30 years. He enjoyed people and lent a helping hand wherever he could. He loved his family and many friends. He was a member of the Abingdon Christian Church and the Odd Fellow Lodge in Monmouth. He will be missed by many. Max is survived by his wife Vena Naugle of Abingdon, IL; his six children, Sandy (and Tom) Maloy of Galesburg, IL, Mark (and Christi) Naugle of Richland, WA, Phil (and Shari) Naugle of Abingdon, IL, Lisa (and Vic) Melling of West Richland, WA, Jeff Naugle and Danny Naugle both of Richland, WA; two sisters, Martha (and Richard) Johnson of Mitchell, IN and Neva Jo Landrith of Monmouth, IL; 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers James Naugle, who resided in California and Lee Naugle, who resided in Texas, a granddaughter Valorie and a stepdaughter Betty Smith who resided in New Tazwell, TN. Funeral service will be at 1:00 pm Thursday, March 13, 2008 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Rev. Jerald Hill will officiate. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 1:00 pm Thursday at the chapel. Memorials may be made to the Abingdon Christian Church.
