77 of 304 S. Jefferson St died at 4:23 pm Wednesday, September 27, 2006 at her home. She was born on April 13, 1929 in Cuba, IL to Elmer L. and Gladys Porter Clifford. She married Martin E. Davis in 1951 in Jerseyville, IL. They were divorced. Surviving are two sisters, Bertha Kilburn and Louise Whitenack both of Abingdon; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews and great-great nieces and great-great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Frances Schisler. She grew up in the Avon area and graduated from Avon High School in 1947. She later lived in Knoxville prior to moving to Abingdon. She worked as a seamstress at the Carhartt Galesburg Plant retiring in 1989. Graveside service will be at 11:00 am Saturday, September 30, 2006 at the Abingdon Cemetery. Rex Kilburn, her nephew, will officiate. There will be no visitation. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel is in charge of arrangements Memorials may be made to American Lung Association.
