Milly Anderson Obituary

106 of 606 W. Adams St. died at 2:25 pm Saturday, June 24, 2006 at the Care Center of Abingdon. She was born on June 16, 1900 near Lockridge in Jefferson County, Iowa to Frank R. and Anna M. (Lindahl) Jacobs. She married George E. Anderson on October 30, 1921 near Fairfield, Iowa. He preceded her in death in 1980. She was also preceded in death by her parents, five sisters and one brother. Surviving are one son, James (and Grace) Anderson of Tampa, FL; two grandsons, Steven (and Sue) Anderson of Wheaton, IL and Eric (and Patricia) Anderson of Wesley Chapel, FL; three great grandchildren, Natalie, David and Nicolle. She graduated from high school in Fairfield, IA and attended Brown's Business College in Galesburg. She worked at the Pioneer Creamery and Rowe Manufacturing in Galesburg and at the American Sanitary Manufacturing Company in Abingdon. She was a member of the Abingdon United Methodist Church for over seventy years. She was a member of the Abingdon P.E.O. chapter for many years, Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381 Auxiliary, and was a volunteer for over 30 years for the American Red Cross Blood Bank. She was an avid bridge player, gardener and lover of animals of all kinds. She and her husband were longtime members of Lake Bracken Country Club, where they enjoyed golf and picnics at the lake. Funeral service will be at 11:00 am Tuesday at the Abingdon United Methodist Church. Rev. Paul Dinges will officiate. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 until 11:00 am Tuesday at the church. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Abingdon United Methodist Church.
