, 97 of Abingdon, died at 12:10 pm Friday, June 13, 2008 at the Care Center of Abingdon. She was born on November 5, 1910 near London Mills, IL to James T. and Anna Shaver Roberts. She married Thomas "Tom" Ring on November 25, 1932 in Lewistown, IL. He preceded her in death on February 28, 2005. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother and two sisters. Surviving are several nephews and nieces and their families, including a nephew, Ronald "Jack" Wherley who made his home with Minnie and Tom for many years. She lived in the Abingdon area most of her life. Minnie graduated from Abingdon High School in 1928. She then attended Western Illinois Teachers College in Macomb. She taught school in her early years. She also helped her husband farm in the Abingdon area from 1934 until they retired in 1976. She was the oldest living member of the Abingdon High School Half-Century Alumni. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, cross stitching and was a member of the Cashman Sewing Club. She had attended the former United Brethren Church in London Mills. Graveside service will be at 11:00 am Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at the Abingdon Cemetery. Rev. Bob Malone and Mrs. Eleanor Landon will officiate. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Monday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Memorials may be made to Abingdon First Responders or the Abingdon FFA.
