Miss Kathy "Katie" E. Gordon

Miss Kathy “Katie” E. Gordon, age 71, of Abingdon, passed away at 6:21 PM on Friday November 3, 2023 in Seminary Manor.

Katie was born on July 23, 1952 in Galesburg, the daughter of William “George” F. and Betty D. (Batson) Gordon. Katie is survived by her mother Betty of Abingdon, her brother William “Bill” (Lisa) Gordon, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Katie is preceded in death by her father George.

Katie graduated from Abingdon High School with the class of 1970. After High school she went to work for Admirals and Maytag in Galesburg before finding her true calling working as a chef at Grady’s Top Brass in Abingdon. She became an amazing chef and was known most for her famous prime rib. Katie also had a love of animals and had a beloved cat Sasha who she kept amazing care of, along with taking care of her family. She loved her family dearly, had a kind heart, and was always one of the first people to step up if anyone needed any help.

Cremation has been accorded. A private graveside service will be held for the family at Abingdon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the Knox County Humane Society in Katie’s name.
