Miss Melinda Kay Allen

20 of RR Abingdon died at 2:30 am Saturday west of Abingdon in rural Warren County. She was born on June 9, 1987 in Galesburg, daughter of Gerry and Margie Boone Allen. Melinda is survived by her parents, Gerry and Margie Allen of RR Abingdon, three brothers, Rick, Brandon and Matt, all of Abingdon; her grandmothers, Ada Johnson of Galesburg and Kathleen Boone of RR St. Augustine and many aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandfathers. She graduated from Abingdon High School in 2005. She was currently in her Junior year at Western Illinois University in Macomb pursuing a degree in Elementary Education. Melinda was a student worker in the accounting department at Western Illinois University and was also a waitress at Lake Bracken Country Club. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:00 am Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at the St. Augustine Catholic Church in St. Augustine, IL. Father Tom Holloway will officiate. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery. Friends may call from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm Monday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel, with the family present from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established in honor of Melinda.
