Mr. Anthony Strom Obituary

Mr. Anthony C. “Tony” “Bone” Strom, 58, of Victoria, Illinois passed away at 9:00 pm Friday, April 23, 2021 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center.

Tony was born October 26, 1962 in Galesburg the son of Arthur and Barbara Ann (Seiboldt) Strom.

He is survived by his children, Sumner and Ava Strom; the mother of his children and companion for over 28 years, Melisa Mundwiler all of Galva, Illinois; his sister, Beth Ann (Dan) Knox of East Moline, Illinois; his sister-in-law, Victoria Strom of Victoria; his nieces and nephews, Alison (Mike) Torres, Mariel Knox, Zak (Angel) Knox, Samantha (Eric Sengpiel) Knox, Seth Strom, Alexandra Strom; great nieces and nephews, Grant and Evan Torres, Emmi and Jacci Knox and Quinn Sengpiel; his Uncle Roger and Aunt Sharon Seiboldt of Victoria and his Aunt Nancy Wilson of Downington, Pennsylvania; his in-laws, Russell and Vicky Mundwiler of Knoxville, Illinois and his sister-in-law, Amy Mundwiler of Davenport, Iowa;  and many loved cousins. Tony didn’t know a stranger and had many, many close friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Jeffrey Strom and an infant sister, Rebecca Ann.

Tony graduated from Galva High School in 1980 and had been nominated as Homecoming King. He participated in track and broke records running the one and two mile that held for over 38 years. He attended Augustana College as a freshman and participated in cross country, breaking records there as well. He went on to receive his bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University in 1985. Tony was a member of the Alpha Gamma Sigma Fraternity. To say that Tony was a social guy, or the life of the party would be an understatement. His outgoing personality was certainly an attribute to his career as a field sales representative. He worked for Monsanto and Bayer Corporation Science for over 15 years. He was the 2020 recipient of the Commercial Excellence Program, a program which less than 50 people in the United States receive.

Tony was a Master Mason of the Altona Masonic Lodge #330 and a member of the United Methodist Church in Victoria.

Tony began boating at Oak Run in the 1970s and has continued to boat on his off days. He also was involved in a golf league at Oak Run throughout the years. He was a thirty-year member of Little John Conservation Club.  Tony had a love for riding motorcycles and had ventured to Sturgis several years with his friends, including the late Harlan Lundeen. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan and enjoyed bantering with any Cub fan he could engage in conversation. Tony’s world revolved around his children and any activity they were involved in. He looked forward to their family vacations to the Dells and the Bahamas. Tony’s deep loud voice could be heard from a far and will be greatly missed by many.
