Mr. Arlee "Preston" P. Scott

Arlee P. “Preston” Scott Sr., 84, of Galesburg, died at 11:39 a.m. Monday, November 29, 2021, in OSF St. Mary Medical Center.

He was born January 8, 1937, in Pickering, Missouri, the son of Carl F. and Ruby N. (Jackson) Scott.  He married Hazel E. Taylor on March 21, 1958, in Cambridge, Illinois.  She preceded him in death on December 12, 2016 after more than 58 years of marriage.

He is survived by a son, Arlee P. (Lori) Scott Jr. of Galesburg; a step son, Carl E. (Cindy) Dillon of Oneida; a step daughter, Charlene “Kay” Dillon of Galesburg; his grandchildren, Julie (Jammy) Taylor; Chuck (Nicci) Dillon; Genny (Doug) Miller; Tim (Shelly) Dillon; Brandi (Bob) Talbot; Andrew (Nichole) Scott; Peter (Shona) Scott; and Nicole (Brett) Scott; his 18 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by his wife Hazel; and one grandchild CJ Dillon.

Preston worked at the former Galesburg State Research Hospital for 17 years and later at the former Butler Manufacturing Company for 25 years before retiring.  He was of the Christian faith and was a member of the former Advent Christian Church. Preston enjoyed fishing and hunting in his free time. He had also taken up woodworking to assist his family, while still being able to spend time with them.

Cremation will be accorded, and an ash committal will be held on Saturday December 4, 2021 at 11:00 AM in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Rev. Randy Hroziencik will be officiating. The family has asked that those in attendance please follow the Covid-19 guidelines and to please wear a mask. Memorial contributions may be made to The American Diabetes Association.
