Mr. Chesley E. Bradshaw

Chesley Eugene Bradshaw, 87, of Abingdon, Illinois, finished his earthly journey on January 2nd, 2023. He has finally been reunited with his wife, Alma, his parents, a brother, Joe, and various cousins, aunts, uncles, and so many others who knew and loved him.

He has left behind his three children, Norman (Julie) Bradshaw, of Kearney, Missouri; Chila (Jerry) Woychik, of Iowa & Georgia; and Lesley (Pamela) Bradshaw of Peoria, Illinois. Also surviving is a brother, Dwain (Peggy) Bradshaw, as well as a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, an aunt and uncle, cousins, and many friends scattered across the country.

Chesley was an accomplished athlete in high school, winning numerous medals and accolades, and an Army veteran who served in Germany and the United States. He worked at Gates Rubber Company in Galesburg for years before his retirement. Ches was a jack-of-all-trades who loved nothing more than his family, and keeping busy, completing projects, and working hard. He began Bradshaw’s Repair Service out of his garage before upgrading several times as his customers realized his excellence, integrity, and fairness as a business owner and all-around great guy. He was fondly referred to as The Fix-it Man.

Chesley was a wonderful son, husband, father, and friend. Enough can’t be said about him. Be sure that he will be incredibly missed by all those who knew him, especially his family.

A memorial service will be held 11a.m Saturday, January 7th, 2023, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service, 206 N. Washington Street, Abingdon, Illinois. David Graf will officiate. Military Honors will be provided by Knox County Honor Guard at start of service. Memorials may be made to the Galesburg Rescue Mission.
