Mr. Christopher Tuckey Obituary

Mr. Christopher R. Tuckey, 48, of Knoxville, Illinois died Monday, April 17, 2023, in Galesburg, Illinois.

He was born June 1, 1974, in Canton, Illinois to Kenneth and Rosanne (Henseler) Tuckey.  He married Mandi Shreeves, September 22, 2001, in Knoxville.  He is survived by his parents Ken and Rosanne, Mandi and their three sons, Holdyn Tuckey, Cooper Tuckey, and Sawyer Tuckey all of Knoxville, his nephews EJ Clary and Cash Shreeves, both of Knoxville.  His grandfather, AJ Henseler, Jr. of Canton, a brother, Sean Tuckey of Lincoln, Illinois, a sister, Gina Tuckey of Rushville, Illinois. As well as in-laws, and many aunts, uncles, cousins.

Chris graduated from Canton High School in 1992. He furthered his education at Knox College in Galesburg, graduating in 1996 with an Economics major. While at Knox College, he played football and was a member of the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity.  He worked as a National Distribution Manager for C.H. Robinson for almost 24 years.  Chris enjoyed golfing. Playing in golf leagues every year. He liked to play cards with the boys and friends. He was a passionate Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan. There were many intense, loud nights of watching football with the boys as they cheered on their rival teams, Holdyn Chargers, Cooper Packers and Sawyer shared the love of the Bears.  Chris hunted mushrooms every spring locally with Brad and in Bernadotte with his lifelong friend Elton.  Chris enjoyed bringing home mushrooms he had found, telling stories of the day out in the timber and cooking them up for his family. The mushroom feast became somewhat of a family event. The boys all enjoyed helping Chris prepare and cook up the mushrooms for the big feast. Chris truly enjoyed cooking and bringing the family together with great tasting foods and special meal for events like favorite birthday meals, family cookouts and Christmas Eve dinners.

Chris loved to fish. He and his family spent several summer vacations on their favorite island at Burntside Lake, Minnesota.  Chris enjoyed taking the boys out in the boat tubing, fishing, cliff jumping, and watching the beauty of the wildlife and open water. The Minnesota trips created amazing adventures, stories and lifelong memories of Chris for the boys to carry with them. Chris loved music of all genres. Music created an energy in Chris that was contagious to those around him, heightening the mood and dancing the night away. He enjoyed playing his guitar with his boys, his dad Ken and his college buddy Mike.  Many nights were spent on the patio as Mike and Chris jammed out as the family-famed band “Muckey” with guest appearances by Holdyn, Cooper, Sawyer, Cash and the guest star EJ jamming right alongside them. Chris passed his love for music to each of the boys.

As Chris requested, cremation will be accorded.  A graveside service will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 23, 2023 in Knoxville Cemetery.  A Memorial Open House will be 5:00 – 8:00pm, Sunday April 23, 2023, at the Knoxville American Legion.  In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family is requesting that all memorials be made to Tompkins State Bank for an education or career path fund for his sons and that information is listed below, under the donations tab.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
