Mr. Dale Ruebner Obituary

Mr. Dale Glenn Ruebner, 74, of Galesburg, Illinois died 4:47 p.m. Friday, April 29, 2022, at Seminary Manor, Galesburg, of significant heart issues. 

He was born August 6, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois to Earl and Marguerite (Reifschneider) Ruebner.  He married Carol Bruntjen, August 26, 1972, in Illiopolis, Illinois.  He later married Jean Kilpatrick, December 20, 1997, in Galesburg.  She survives.  

Also surviving is a daughter, Gretchen Ruebner (and her husband, Christopher Healey) of Barrington, Rhode Island, and a step-grandson, Tristan Healey of Barrington, Rhode Island.  Dale was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Myrna Ruebner. 

Dale graduated from Rich Township Central Campus in 1965.  He later graduated from Western Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology.  He worked at Admiral/Maytag from 1976 to 1993 as an industrial engineer, competitive analysis engineer, and a packaging lab and design engineer.  While at Admiral/Maytag he was a member of the Society of Packaging and Handling Engineers, Member of Institute of Packaging Professionals (IOPP), and co-founder of the Mississippi Valley Chapter of IOPP.  He later worked at Caterpillar Manufacturing Company in Mossville Engine Plant from 1994 until his retirement in 2009.  He was a CAT machinist and team leader in engine assembly and a member of the United Auto Workers, Local #974.  Dale was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Galesburg, Promise Keepers and the Stearman Restorer’s Association.  He volunteered for the American Red Cross Blood Drive and F.I.S.H. Food Pantry.  He was a Paul Harris Fellow, awarded by the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International.  Dale was a huge open wheel racing fan.  He went to the Indianapolis 500 Pole Day annually from 1976 to 2016 and attended several Indy 500 races.  He was a regular attender of the National Stearman Fly-In and for several years he organized the tram ride narrators from the Knoxville AmVets.  In his free time, he enjoyed musky fishing in the North Woods area of Wisconsin. 

Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2022, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel.  Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Bethel Baptist Church, Galesburg.  Kevin Fogerty and Deacon Michael Crummer will officiate. Those unable to attend may watch virtually at 10:00 am Saturday via https://www.facebook.com/Hinchliff-Pearson-West-Funeral-Directors-and-Cremation-Services-160333664037824/ . Burial will be in Log Church Cemetery, in rural Hanover, Illinois.  Memorials may be made to F.I.S.H.
