Mr. Dan Lee Zeigler

Mr. Dan Lee Zeigler, 76, of Galesburg, Illinois passed away peacefully at 5:54 am Friday, May 6, 2022, surrounded by family and friends at his home.

I would like to quote my dad and best friend, “I didn’t know dying could be so much fun!!!”~”Danny Scott Zeigler.

Dan was born October 31, 1945, in Galesburg the son of Robert and Phyllis (Campbell) Zeigler. He married Kathy DeWeese and later married Doralee Newland-Rubison in 1982 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She preceded him in death on January 20, 2021.

Dan is survived by his children, Danny Scott (Vicki) Zeigler of Galesburg, Lori (Clint) McKinley of Durant, Iowa and Tracy (Mark) Kieres of Yorkville, Illinois; his brother, Brad (Rita) Zeigler of Monmouth, Illinois and his sister, Martie (Tim) Ellison of Galesburg and nine grandchildren, Dakota, Logan, Jacey, Jade, Tysen, Tate, Jessica, Adam, and Ricky; his two nephews, Chad Ellison of Galesburg and Aaron Ellison of Hudson, Illinois; two nieces, Heather Acerra of Galesburg and Melissa Monroe of Mokena, Illinois and his very special friend and companion, Sandra Meinhart of Knoxville, Illinois. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Dorie.

Dan graduated from Galesburg High school in 1963. He began working as the stockroom and production control manager at OMC/Gale Products. He went on to work for Allsteel where he was operations and control manager for Aurora, Illinois and facility manager of Montreal Canada and division manager of Hazelton, Pennsylvania and finally plant manager of Bizby-Zimmer/US Filter Corporation in Galesburg. Dan also was co-owner and operator, with his wife Dorie, of the Northgate Racquetball and Health Club for over 10 years, retiring in 2004.

Dan enjoyed riding motorcycles. He had a love of gardening, planting flowers and working in his yard. He was a loving father and grandpa. Danny Scott, Dakota, and Logan Ziegler were the 3 Amigos and will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank all who cared for Danny, especially those at the University of Iowa Hospital and Hospice Compassus, Galesburg.
