I taught with Ed for years. In the late 70s we found ourselves single. Ed loved to dance, and I agreed to go with him to Geneseo to a popular place to dance. It wasnt a date, just two friends going to the same place. Ed said wed be safe from our Rockridge students seeing us in Geneseo.
We got there, and no band or dj that night, so we headed back to Rock Island so he could drop me off. We were on a new four lane section of Blackhawk Road, pulled up to a stop light. Beside us? Crap! Some of Eds basketball players. They were yelling at him, waving, hanging out the window. Me? I had slid down the seat and was practically on the floor. We laughed about that for years. I dont think I was seen. At least I dont recall anyone at school ever saying anything. Those were the days! Those were the years with a young faculty who were all friends and had fun! Ed was a great guy!
