Mr. G. Quentin Brown, 86, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 8:40 a.m. Saturday, February 25, 2023, at Allure of Knox County, Galesburg.
He was born July 4, 1936, in Freeport, Illinois to G. Renold and Ivie Ethel (Momenteller) Brown. He married the love of his life, Carol Youngdahl, July 24, 1965, in Moline, Illinois.
Surviving is his wife of 57 years, Carol Brown of Galesburg.
Quentin was graduated from Lanark High School, Lanark, Illinois in 1954. He attended Beloit College and later was graduated from the University of Illinois. He served in the United States Army in between attending the two colleges. Quentin was an agricultural chemical salesman for several companies, including Brayton Chemical Company in Burlington, Iowa for many years. He retired in 2001. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Galesburg. He was also a member of Noon Rotary, Soangetaha Country Club, Midwest Agriculture Scholarship Foundation, and TKE fraternity in both Beloit College and University of Illinois. Quentin enjoyed golfing, fishing, and watching the Chicago Cubs, Green Bay Packers, and the Fighting Illini. He loved to travel with his wife. After retirement, he and Carol traveled all over the world visiting six different continents. New Zealand was Quentin’s favorite. In China and Peru, he loved to stop and talk to the different sidewalk salesmen.
As Quentin requested, cremation will be accorded. A visitation will be 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 2, 2023, at Trinity Lutheran Church. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Rev. Dr. Carrie Carnes officiating. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or to the Tree Fund at Soangetaha Country Club.
