Mr. Gary James "Bru" Bruington

From 1967-to-1970, Bru & I were teaching and coaching colleagues at Washington Community H.S. He assisted me in basketball while I serve as his baseball assistant. Much more than that he and his wife, Alice became dear friends with my wife, Gerry and me. Gerry and I hold wonderful memories of shared times with Gary & Alice. May they now be United in Our Lord’s eternal peace.

Coach Bru was a great guy and was always respectful to me back in the good ol 80's. Just recently I was so thankful that I got the chance to come over and pray with him this past summer when I would be mowing the Church yard that was right next to his backyard, and Angie would always welcome me over there to see him. He touched alot of kids lives not only on the field but off as well. Bru had came down with pretty much the same cancer as I had in 2018 Squamous cell Carcinoma but his tumor was in the cheek area on the face while mine was behind the tongue. Just know this that we never know when it's going to be our time so I urge everyone that hasnt accepted Jesus Christ as lord and Savior do so because we never know when death will be at our door. Angie. Your dad was one of my all favorite teachers. He taught me so much about fishing/hunting and how to enjoy it. I will always be grateful to him for that and all the other things he taught me that are too numerous to mention. I wish I could be at service, but due to recent illness I won’t be able to go. I will catch up with soon to see how you doing. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Take care Chris Wood
