Gary W. Icenogle, 67, of Galesburg, passed away at 12:15 a.m. Tuesday February 23, 2021, at his home with his wife, daughter, grandchildren and sister by his side.
Gary was born on July 26, 1953, in Rushville, Illinois, to Wayne and Elva (Sherrill) Icenogle. He married Sheryl A. Frank on October 3, 1987, at the First Church of the Open Bible in Galesburg.
He is survived by his wife Sheryl of 33 years, his daughter Mary Ann E. Icenogle of Galesburg, his sister Carolyne Belhomme of California, and three grandchildren Alicia, Kayden, and Landyn. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Gary worked at Gross Galesburg Carhart in the maintenance department before working as a groundskeeper and custodian for the First Church of the Open Bible and part time maintenance for the First Church of Nazarene. Gary had excellent carpentry skills and did work for local farmers and the City of Altona. He also enjoyed creative hobbies such as tinkering and woodworking. Gary enjoyed playing Santa and Mrs. Clause with his wife, passing out poinsettia plants to the seniors at the First Church of the Open Bible, as well as at the local Farm King. He graduated from ROVA High School in 1972 and attended Carl Sandburg College in the CAD program. Gary was a faithful member of the First Church of the Nazarene.
Cremation has been accorded. Visitation will be from 10-11 AM with a memorial service to follow on Saturday, March 27, at the First Church of the Nazarene.
