Mr. Howard Y. Cowman

Mr. Howard Y. Cowman, 86, of Port Charlotte, Florida died 12:15 a.m. Thursday, April 27, 2023, at the Tidewell Port Charlotte Hospice Home, Port Charlotte. 

He was born January 7, 1937, in Galesburg, Illinois to Paul H. and Violet M. (Young) Cowman.  He married Marilyn J. Higbee on October 24, 1968, in Sterling, Illinois.  She survives. 

Also surviving are two sons, Richard (Rhonda) Liedtke of Deerfield, Illinois, and Michael (Debbie) Liedtke of Orlando, Florida, two daughters Pamella Keck of Rock Island, Illinois, and Teresa (Ty) Anderson of Clearwater, Florida, five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Violet Cowman, a son, Steven Liedtke, and a daughter, Debra Liedtke.

Howard graduated from Galesburg High School in 1954.  He was an inspection supervisor for the Burlington Railroad for 18 years and retired in 1962.  He was a member of the First Christian Church in Galesburg.

Private graveside service will be Friday, May 5, 2023, in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
