Mr. James "Jim" A. Ashby

James A. “Jim” Ashby, 74, of Galesburg, died at 5:13 p.m. Monday, April 26, 2021, at home surrounded by family.

He was born October 31, 1946, in Marietta, the son of Robert L. and Leona L. (Robison) Ashby.  He married Lucille Miller in 1965 in Avon.

He is survived by his wife Lucille of over 55 years; a son, Jim B. (Holly) Ashby of Durham, North Carolina; a daughter, Charlotte (Dave) Beard of Knoxville; grandchildren, DJ, Richard, George, Daniel, Kirsten, Chris, Macie, Doni, Michael, Sara, and Dawnie; great grandchildren, DJ and Jordan; a brother, Kenneth (Sharon) Ashby of Knoxville; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Larry, Keith, Harold, and Raymond.

Jim worked for Butler Manufacturing for over 30 years before retiring.  He enjoyed going to the casino to play the slots, playing cards, and setting up flea markets.  Jim graduated from Avon High School in 1964.  He and Lucille lived in Gerlaw for many years before moving into Galesburg.
