Mr. James "Jimmy" McCormick Obituary

James A. “Jimmy” McCormick, 59, of Oneida, Illinois passed away at 7:55 pm Saturday, August 21, 2021, at the University of Iowa Hospital with his family by his side.

Jimmy was born April 15, 1962, in Galesburg the son of Rolland “Dean” and Sharon J. (McVey) McCormick. He married the love of his life, Debra G. Finch on July 31, 1982, in Knoxville, Illinois.

Jimmy is survived by his wife of 39 years, Deb; his two daughters, Marcie (Lance) Erickson, their daughter, Faythe Erickson, lovingly called “Sunshine” by Jimmy and Katie (Brandon) Jern both of Galesburg and their son, Brason Jern; his brother, Brad (Pam Boyd) McCormick of Eureka, Illinois and his sister, Deb (Tim) McKay of St. Joseph, Missouri.

Together as a team, Jimmy and his wife, Deb operated Jimmy’s Pizza in Wataga and later Jimmy’s Pizza in Galesburg. They established a comfortable, relaxing meeting place for friends and families to enjoy a time for food and conversation. Jimmy, Deb, and daughter Katie have continued to be dedicated supporters in the community.

Jimmy had a love for golf, playing in the Oak Run Golf Leagues for many years. He was an avid Chicago Cubs but like many was upset with the current trades the Cubs had recently made. He graduated from Knoxville High School in 1980. Some of Jimmy’s favorite past times were baking snickerdoodles with Faythe and being one of Brason’s biggest fan at his baseball games.

Jimmy always greeted you with a smile, a hug and small talk.  He had many close friends and customers that became great friends. He will certainly be missed by his family and the community.
