Mr. Jay P. Wiechmann

Mr. Jay Paul Wiechmann, 55, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 8:05 pm. on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, at his home.

Jay was born on July 17, 1965, the son of Jack and Jean (Jensen) Wiechmann, in Kansas City, Missouri. He married Lauri White at Nebraska City, Nebraska in 1989.

He is survived by his mother, Jean Wiechmann of Omaha, Nebraska; his two daughters, Kendra Sue Wiechmann of Heath, Ohio, and Colleen Lauren (and Bret Peck) Wiechmann of Newark Ohio; his brother, Jeff Wiechmann of Stuart, Florida; three grandchildren, Kaiden and Nykiah Wiechmann and Brinley Peck; two cousins, Eric and John Jensen, Jr. both of Portland, Oregon area and two nieces. Emily (Matt) Wiechmann and Hannah (Brandon) Fallwel. He is preceded in death by his father Jack Wiechmann on June 7, 2019, his grandparents, his Aunt Janet and Uncle John.

Jay graduated high school at Ralston High School in 1984, and shortly after pursued his Bachelor’s Degree, graduating college form Peru State College in 1989. Jay was a history teacher at Cambridge High School. Jay was also a well-known in the area as an officiator of football, basketball and baseball. He had also served as the school’s golf coach. Jay was baptized and confirmed of the Lutheran faith.

Visitation will be from 10:00-Noon, Saturday January 30, 2021 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Funeral Services will follow at Noon at the chapel. Due to guidelines associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing and facemasks will be required with limited occupancy.
