Mr. Joel Lindolph Lowery

Mr. Joel L. Lowery, 95, of Galesburg died at 5:40 p.m., Friday, October 18, 2019 at Aperion Care Galesburg North.

Joel was born April 30, 1924 in Tunnel Hill, Illinois to Mr. Ova E. and Mary L. (Mahan) Lowery. He married Allie A. Vinson on May 23, 1953. She preceded him in death March 9, 2019.

He is survived by his son Don Lowery, one stepson Harold Henricks; five daughters Betty Launius, Delores Cage, Linda Albietz, Kay Scholl, Barbara Martin, and one stepdaughter Diane Nash. Also surviving are 28 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Allie Lowery, and one stepson Mike Hendricks.

Joel was a member of East Peoria Church of the Nazarene and Harmony Baptist Church of Galesburg. He served two years as a PFC in Field Artillery while overseas in the United States Army during World War II. Joel retired from Caterpillar in East Peoria as a Heat Treat Operator. He was very talented in making repairs.

Visitation will be Saturday, October 26, 2019 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Harmony Baptist Church. Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the church. Pastor Chris Nissley will officiate. Committal Service will be 3:00 p.m., Monday, October 28, 2019 in New Salem Cemetery in Vienna, Illinois. Memorials may be given to Harmony Baptist Church or the Galesburg Rescue Mission. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
