Mr. John Daniel McLaughlin

Mr. John Daniel McLaughlin, 84, of Galesburg died at 6:56 a.m., Thursday, May 30, 2019 in Unity Point Health Methodist Hospital, Peoria.

John was born December 29, 1934 in Monmouth, Illinois to Edward and Mary (Cavanaugh) McLaughlin.

He is survived by his children Marcus McLaughlin of Davenport, Iowa; and Anne Marie Klapperich of Milan, Illinois; one sister Grace (Dr. Robert) Jones of Des Moines, Iowa; and three grandchildren Jackson, Alec, and Owen. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother James McLaughlin, and two sisters, Rosemary O’Malley and Joann Magnuson.

John attended eight years and graduated from Immaculate Conception Catholic School where his moral compass was set for life. John graduated from Monmouth College in 1957 with a degree in Accounting. After college, John work in business for many years until his retirement.

Cremation will be accorded. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2019 at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Monmouth. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services are assisting the family with cremation arrangements.
