Mr. John Miller Obituary

John Miller, 92, of Galesburg passed away on December 9, 2018 at Marigold Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born August 24, 1926 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.  When he was 6 years old, he and his family moved to Larkhall, Scotland.  He married Jean Charlton on August 30, 1947 in Coventry, England.  She preceded him in death on October 12, 2015. 

John is survived by his two daughters, Ann Taylor of Lancaster, New York and Sandra (Bill) Bruington of Galesburg; three granddaughters, Lisa (Joe) Raab of Clarence Center, New York; Toni (Chad) Swenson of Kansas City, Missouri and Sheena (Jerel) Deatherage of Galesburg; and four great grandchildren, Stephanie Raab, Sean Swenson and Kinsley and Aleigha Deatherage.  He was also preceded in death by his father and mother, Robert and Catherine Miller and grandson, Brad Taylor.

When John came to the United States he worked as a milkman for Park Drive Dairy, groundskeeper at Lake Bracken and security guard at Gale Products and Butler Mfg.  John was always proud of his Scottish heritage and served in the British Army. 

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.  Cremation will be accorded.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services of Galesburg is assisting the family with arrangements.  Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Knox County Humane Society.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
