Mr. John R. "Jack" Moore

John R. “Jack” Moore of Cape Coral, Florida, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, in Ft. Myers, FL, at the age of 79.  Jack was born on March 28, 1942, in Peoria, Illinois.

Jack graduated from ROVA High School in 1960.  He did custom farm work, worked at Gates Rubber Co., and was in sales, sales training, and sales management, for Davenport Screw Co., and Bowman Distribution.  He later did more farm work, and part-time bartending.

He enjoyed playing cards, boating, fishing, and loved cars – especially Corvettes.  He was a lifetime member of the Galesburg Elks lodge Post #894.

Jack married Shelley Pierce in 1989.  They moved from Galesburg to Cape Coral, in 2008.  Jack is survived by his wife, Shelley; his grandson, Craig Hillery; and his great-grandsons, Cashton and Camdon Hillery.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter R. Moore and Mary Clay (Stone) Moore.

Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 am Tuesday, October 19, 2021 in Ontario Cemetery with Chaplain Jordan Knight officiating. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 pm Monday, October 18, 2021, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Burial will be in Ontario Cemetery, rural Oneida, Illinois.  In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Guardian Angels Humane Society, in Galesburg.
