Mr. Lawrence "Sonny" E. Hulick

Mr. Lawrence “Sonny” E. Hulick, 80 of Abingdon, passed away at 8:20 p.m. Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at Seminary Manor in Galesburg.

He was born October 24, 1939 at Saunders Hospital in Avon, the son of Floyd E. and Alice (Misselbrook) Hulick.  He married Deanna D. “Dee” Murray on June 24, 1960 at the Abingdon Christian Church.

Sonny is survived by two sons, Jeff (and Teresa) Hulick of Abingdon and Lon Hulick of  Abingdon; one grandson, Shane Hulick; two step-grandsons, Nathan Johnson and Cody Johnson; his companion, Diana Ward: and one sister, Shirley Zimmerman of Florida.

He lived in Abingdon all his life and graduated from Abingdon High School in 1957.  He worked for Admiral/Maytag for 30 years, retiring in 1987.  His hobbies included anything in the outdoors, hunting, fishing, trapping, rebuilding muscle cars and later he enjoyed restoring tractors, and more recently, tinkering on Jeff’s farm.

Cremation will be accorded.  Private burial of Sonny’s and Dee’s ashes will be at the Abingdon Cemetery at a later date.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.
