Mr. Marty Bair Obituary

Mr. Marty Lynn Bair, 69, of Galesburg, Illinois, died at 9:19 a.m. on Monday, March 10, 2025, at the Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville, Illinois

He was born on October 27, 1955, in Aledo, Illinois. He is the son of Marion E. “Cub” and Joy L. (Johnson) Bair.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother. He is survived by his brother, Todd (and Bonnie) Bair of Galesburg, and his niece, Amanda (and Brandon) Lybarger of Galesburg and his great-niece, Ila Lybarger.

Marty graduated from high school and went on to work at Giants Grocery Store and later Econo Foods, for 34 years. After Econo Foods closed, he worked for Hy-Vee on East Main in Galesburg, for over 10 years. He is a lifetime member of the Mason Lodge, a member of the Galesburg Jaycees, an Evening Lions Club Member and was a volunteer for Cottage Corner/Community Treasures. Marty was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Galesburg.

Marty didn’t know a stranger. He loved hats and had a special bond with those who so generously shared hats with him. It was his way of connecting with others. It wasn’t just the hats he loved, but those who gave them.
