Mr. Michael McLaren Obituary

Mr. Michael Ray McLaren, 65, of Galesburg, Illinois passed away at 11:44 am Saturday, June 20, 2020 at Unity Point Hospital in Peoria.

Michael was born December 24, 1954 in Galesburg the son of William and Norma (Kelly) McLaren. He married Jeanette (Courson) Bricker in Abingdon, Illinois in 1977.

Michael is survived by his son, Justin (Brandi) McLaren of Galesburg; his daughters, Heather (Ryan) Sloan and Jessica (Daniel) Paul both of Avon, Illinois and Jamie (Collin) Rice of Texas; his brothers, Brian and William McLaren both of Galesburg; his sisters, Laurie McWilliams of Rockford, Illinois and Debra (Robert) Estrada of Galesburg; his significant other whom he made his home with, Kimberly Godsil of Galesburg; his stepfather, Frank Webb of Galesburg; twelve grandchildren; one great grandson on-the-way and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, infant sister, Rhonda Sue in 1953, Jeff McLaughlin and two granddaughters, Angel and Trinity.

Michael served in the US Navy on the USS Enterprise.

Michael had worked as an engineer for the Chrysler Company and Maytag Corporation for several years. He received his Associates Degree in Drafting from Carl Sandburg College. Michael was an outdoorsman, loving to fish, camp, garden, ride his bicycle and work in his yard. He enjoyed a good adventure and traveled when he could. He had a great love for music, whether playing or listening. He also enjoyed dancing. Michael was an avid NASCAR fan as well as a St. Louis Cardinal and New England Patriot fan. He loved to watch a good Western movie. Michael had a huge heart, always readily available to lend a helping hand to friends and family with whatever project they may be working on. Michael will be greatly missed.

Michael’s wishes were to be cremated. No services are scheduled at this time. Memorials may be made to the family. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com
