Mr. Michael “Mike” Taylor, 51 of rural Table Grove and formerly of Abingdon and Berwick, died Monday evening, July 20, 2020 at the scene of a motorcycle accident near Table Grove in Fulton County, Illinois.
He was born June 19, 1969 in Galesburg, the son of Merrill “Mike” and Rita (Asher) Taylor. He married Karen L. Morris. She preceded him in death on October 21, 2017. He was also preceded in death by his father and his brother, Tony.
Mike is survived by his children, Logan (and Ashley Collins) Taylor, Courtney (and Anthony Allen) Taylor and Martha (and Gary Huber, Jr.) Taylor all of Abingdon, and Rob Powell of the state of Iowa; two grandchildren, Jaxon Taylor and Jayden Huber and one on the way; his fiancé, Rose Jamerson and her children, Aurora Gibbs and Otto Gibbs III; and his mother, Rita Anderson of Knoxville.
Mike graduated from Abingdon High School in 1987. He lived in the Berwick and Abingdon areas most of his life and he had lived near Table Grove for the past two years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bird watching and arrowhead hunting and he was a rock hound. He especially enjoyed taking care of his kids. He attended the Church of God of Prophecy in Abingdon.
Cremation will be accorded. To celebrate his life, the family will receive relatives and friends from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 25, 2020 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Abingdon Chapel. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, seating will be limited and social distancing limitations and face masks are suggested. They will continue to celebrate his life with a cookout at their home, 606 N.
