I was saddened to hear the news of my friend's passing. My thoughts go out to Ginger and the family. If I recall correctly, I first met Ralph when he drove the football team bus to away games and he pulled over one time as we were too obnoxious. I got to know Ralph much better when I worked with him at ADM. I called him Ralph because when I would see him, I would quote, "Hey Hey Ralphie boy" from the Honeymooners to annoy him. He had no problem dishing it back to me for various reasons, so we had a good banter between us. Ralph and his dad new some of my elder family members and he would share stories that I have never heard before for which I was grateful for. If we worked the same shift at ADM, he'd ask me if I wanted to order dinner from Pizza House. He typically ordered a small ham pizza and I would order the same and a sub sandwich. He would make fun of how much I ate. One time he bought a new Grand Jeep Cherokee before the 4th of July and he wanted to break it in by putting some miles on it. He asked if I wanted to ride along on our day off to buy some fireworks in the next state over. So we made a day out of it and had a great time. I was in contact with him through social media and was happy to see he was still ornery as ever talking about sports teams and life. To this day, I use some advice that he gave me. I asked him to join several of us at a bar after work and he politely declined, so I asked him why. He responded by saying, my wife works all day too, so out of respect for her, I'm going home. This was a sincere statement, but Ralph had many other sayings/analogies that would always make me laugh. He was a great role model for any man. I'm lucky to have known Ralph.

Ginger and Family,

So sorry to hear of Chis passing away. I ALWAYS enjoyed talking to him.... and hearing about the
"shampoo story" from when he and my brother, Dick Ashbaugh were in football at K.H.S.
