Mr. Raymond R. Feirtag, 85, formerly of Galesburg, passed away peacefully on Saturday August 19, in McLean County Nursing Home in Normal, IL.
Raymond was born on September 20, 1937 in Fort Madison, IA. The son of Jim and Ruby (Turley) Feirtag. He was the oldest of three children along with his sisters Mary and Margaret. Raymond married Carolyn (Paull) Feirtag on January 20, 1976 and was lovingly faithful to his vows for 42 years until she proceeded him in death on October 4, 2018.
Raymond graduated from Fort Madison Catholic Central in the class of 1955. He enlisted in the United States Army and had served his country honorably and with great pride from 1961 to 1963 at Fort Bliss in El Paso, TX. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family as a printer, a house painter, a bartender and finally at Maytag, where he retired after 25 years. He was a faithful member of the American Legion, serving for many years as their Adjutant, the Knights of Columbus and Corpus Christi Church.
