Mr. Raymond Florence Obituary

Mr. Raymond B. Florence, 96, of Galesburg, Illinois died 2:35 p.m. Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at his home. 

He was born December 25, 1924 in Bowling Green, Missouri to Arthur, Sr. and Blanche (Moore) Florence.  He married Hazel Shepherd on January 26, 1945 in Bowling Green.  He later married Leona Florence. 

Surviving is a daughter, Bonnie Dickerson of Galesburg, a brother, Nathaniel Florence of Bowling Green, ten grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren, 20 great-great grandchildren and a lifetime devoted friend, Wendy Scott, of Galesburg.  He is preceded in death by his parents, a son, Robert Florence, four brothers, and 3 sisters. 

Ray worked for Heinz Company in Muscatine, Iowa for 37 years before his retirement.  He was of the Baptist faith.  He enjoyed fishing, playing cards with friends and family and dancing. 

Visitation will be 11:00 to 12 Noon Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service.  Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, face masks, social distancing and limited occupancy will be observed.  Private service will be Wednesday at the chapel.  Rev. Robert Brown will officiate.  Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg.  Memorials may be made to the family.  Online condolences may be made to www.h-p-w.com.
