Mr. Richard D. "Rick" Johnson

Mr. Richard D. “Rick” Johnson, 64, of Abingdon, Illinois died 11:17 p.m. Friday, August 27, 2021 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg. 

He was born February 1, 1957 in Galesburg to Carl Leroy and Nettie Ann (Elander) Johnson, Sr.  He married Cassandra Bradshaw in 1982 in Galesburg.

Surviving is a son, Richard E. “Ricky” (and Sarah Orrender) Johnson of Galesburg, two daughters, Nicole Johnson of Abingdon and Amber Johnson of Braceville, Illinois, a brother, David L. (and Anita) Johnson of Enid, Oklahoma, a sister, Barbie (and Mark) Johnson of Roseville, Illinois and two grandsons, Leonidas and Maximus Johnson.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Carl Leroy Johnson, Jr. and a sister, Nancy Muir. 

Rick attended Abingdon schools.  He worked for Abingdon Industries and later worked in security for Briggs Manufacturing Company in Abingdon and Maytag and United Facilities in Galesburg.  Rick liked cars and working on them.  He also enjoyed watching television especially wrestling.  Most of all he loved spending time with his friends and family, and was a proud “Papa Rick” to his grandsons. 

Cremation will be accorded.  A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.  Memorials may be made to the family.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Abingdon Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
