Mr. Robert F. "Bob" Daves

Mr. Robert F. “Bob” Daves, age 77, of Galesburg, Illinois died 10:43 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2024, at a caretaker’s home in Alpha, Illinois. 

He was born October 13, 1946, in Galesburg to Ralph and Jewel (Ralph) Daves.  He married Mary Beth Reid on December 2, 1967, in Galesburg. 

Surviving is his wife of 56 years, Mary Beth Daves of Galesburg and his daughter, Amy Miller of Fishers, Indiana.  He was preceded death by his parents and a brother, Pat Daves. 

Bob graduated from Galesburg High School in 1963.  He then enlisted into the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and was stationed on the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise.  He continued his education at Carl Sandburg College and received an associate degree.  Bob worked for the City of Galesburg in the Park Department for 29 years and retired in 2001.  When he was younger, he attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Galesburg.  Bob was very proud to participate in the Quad Cities Honor Flight in 2019. 

Bob always loved being around friends and family.  Wherever the party was, you can bet Bob was front and center.  A life-long Cubs fan and Bears fan then quickly became a Colts fan and going to games when Amy made her home in Indianapolis.  Bob enjoyed Florida vacations, trips to Indiana Beach, Family Reunions, and was a huge fan of music and going to concerts.  Some of his favorite concerts were Bob Seger, Meatloaf, The Boss and being in the 8th row on Opening night of the Mark of the Quad Cities to see Neil Diamond. Backstage meet and greets included Meatloaf, Styx and John Prine just to name a few.

Visitation will be 12:00 Noon to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel.  The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, at the chapel.  Rev. Laurie Hensley will officiate.  The burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery in Galesburg.  Memorials may be made to the Quad City Honor Flight.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
