Mr. Robert J. "Bobby" Gustafson, Jr.

Mr. Robert J. “Bobby” Gustafson, Jr., 69, of Galesburg, Illinois died 3:09 p.m. Sunday, October 17, 2021 at his home in Galesburg, surrounded by his family. 

He was born July 20, 1952 in Galesburg to Robert J. and Judy (Stomberg) Gustafson, Sr.  He later married Linda Knuth December 19, 2012.  She preceded him in death July 10, 2021. 

Surviving is a son, Lucas J (and Stacy) Gustafson of Galesburg, two daughters, Jennifer Gustafson of Los Angeles, California and Sarah (and Scott) Stanley of Galesburg, a step daughter, Sonya Taylor of Knoxville, Illinois, and seven grandchildren, Isaac Smith, Ace Stanley, Nikki Gustafson, Lucas Gustafson, Luna Gustafson, Zackary Anderson, and Madison Taylor.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Julie Fancher and a granddaughter, Hope Gustafson. 

Bobby graduated from Galesburg High School in 1969.  He then enlisted in the Army for six years and achieved the rank of Sargent.  He worked as a heavy machine operator for Butler Manufacturing Company in Galesburg for over 20 years.  He retired in 1993 due to his battle with M.S.  In high school, Bobby enjoyed participating in track.  He had the high jump record for Galesburg High School for many years.  As an adult, he enjoyed collecting guns and going to gun shows and he also enjoyed riding motorcycles.  He loved watching old Western movies. 

Cremation will be accorded.  A Celebration of Life will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, October 22, 2021 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
