Mr. Robert "Bob" M. English

Robert M. English, 72, of Galesburg, died at 11:50 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2018, after fighting a brave battle against Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), in Seminary Manor.

He was born November 13, 1945, in Galesburg, the son of William Glen and Mattie M. (Roach) English.  He married Sharon Kay McKinzie on July 3, 1971, in Galesburg.  He later married Connie Sue Hare on November 23, 1985, in Galesburg.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 33 years, Connie; four children, Kari (Jason) Forster of Morrison, Jason (Shannon) Hare of St. Augustine, Florida, Erin (Jeremy) Morris of Galesburg, and Justin (Kimberly Harris) Hare of Galesburg; nine grandchildren, Josh Lavine, McKinzie Morris, Mason Morris, Emma Youngquist, Makayla Morris, Kaiden Hare, Ethan Hare, Chasitee Remrey, and Blake Forster; a great granddaughter, Harper Remrey; two sisters, Joyce Nelson and Glenda Inness, both of Galesburg; and six nieces and nephews, Kim Rubendunst, Mark Nelson, Ron VanFleet, David VanUnnik, Miranda Hedden, and Joey VanUnnik.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Sgt. Jeremy Hare on August 25, 2005.

Bob was a lifelong Galesburg resident, who graduated from Corpus Christi High School in 1963.  He had a 52-year career in road construction.  The first 35 years, he worked for IDOT and then he worked for 17 years as a road construction consultant.  He retired April 7, 2016.

Bob was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, where he served on the parish council.  He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.  He was the proud owner of a 1969 Mercury Cougar convertible that he enjoyed taking to car shows.  Bob enjoyed golf and was a fan of the Cubs, Bears, and Notre Dame.  When not working, Bob could be found relaxing at home, building things, or spending time with his family.  He served in the United States Marine Corps.

Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 24, 2018 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel, with The Rosary being prayed at 4:30 p.m.  Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2018 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church with Rev. Father William Miller and Rev. Father Deus-Dedit Byabato officiating.  Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.  Memorial contributions may be to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
