Mr. Robert W. (Kidder) Nott, 72 of rural Abingdon passed away Friday morning, February 21, 2020.
He was born September 7, 1947 in Monmouth, the son of “Skeet” Harold and Dorothy (Poland) Nott and Robert Kidder. He married Virginia Moon on October 2, 1971 at the Abingdon Christian Church.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Virginia; one daughter, Jennifer (and Richard) Pugh of Quincy; seven grandchildren, Matthew, Hannah, Jaydyn, Moriah, Gabrielle, Andrew and Michael; and two sisters, Paula (and Garth) Pearson of Yates City and Leonora (and Don) Hand Texas; and a stepsister, Peggy Cewell of Galesburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Richard Nott.
Bob graduated from Abingdon High School in 1965. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He worked at Butler Manufacturing in Galesburg for over 30 years. His hobbies included deer hunting and turkey hunting, doing genealogy research and spending time with his family and grandchildren. In his younger years he enjoyed playing slow pitch softball.
Cremation was accorded. To celebrate Bob’s life, his family will host a graveside service with military rites at 11 a.m. Sunday, June 28, 2020 at the Meridian Cemetery in Warren County west of Abingdon. Due to the social distancing limitations related to the COVID-19 pandemic, face masks are recommended. The family will continue to celebrate Bob’s life in a time of food and fellowship at their home on Draper Lane next to the cemetery. If you are more comfortable bringing your own food and drink to the house, the family understands. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Abingdon Chapel is assisting his family with arrangements.
