Mr. Robin "Rob" A. Derry

Mr. Robin “Rob” A. Derry, 69, of Galesburg, Illinois passed away at 3:52 pm Saturday, March 11, 2023, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

Rob was born June 28, 1953, in Galesburg, the son of Roland E. and Emma J. (Robinson) Derry.

Rob is survived by his son, Jason Derry; his sister, Marsha L. (Tommy) Grayson of Port Royal, South Carolina; two nephews, Cary T. Grayson III and Michael R. Grayson and his good friend, Mike (Teresa) Thompson. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Rob graduated from Galesburg High School in 1971 where he played baseball. He continued his baseball career playing for the American Legion Post #285 Baseball Team, achieving the state championship in 1971. Rob earned his Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois. Rob also played baseball for SIU from 1971-1975, leading the team to the College World Series in 1974. Rob was inducted in the Galesburg High School Hall of Fame in 2020.

Rob was an avid sports nut, loving the game of baseball and taking in a round of golf. If he wasn’t watching sports, he was playing sports or if he wasn’t playing sports he was talking about sports.

Rob’s wishes were to be cremated. A Celebration of his Life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Galesburg Community Foundation for the benefit of the Roland Derry Memorial Foundation Fund.
