Mr. Rodney Dean Engman, age 76, passed away on January 24, 2020 at his home in Manassas, Virginia. He was born on May 28, 1943 in Galesburg, Illinois to Herbert and Mary Geraldine Engman.
Rod graduated from Knox College in Galesburg and continued his education at George Washington University. He provided over thirty-seven years of service to the United States government, retiring from the IRS in 2003. Rod had a love for working outdoors, especially with ornamental plants and flowers. In his retirement, he found joy in spending time with his loved grandchildren Joaquín and Reina. He will always be remembered for his good natured sense of humor and appreciation for every living being.
Rodney is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Gilta Engman; Daughters Eda Marie and Neena Gilene Engman; Son Herbert Anthony Engman (Sara Beth); Grandchildren Reina Rose Engman, Joaquín Anthony Engman, Jadon Russell Clark, and Rya Page Clark; Brothers Richard Engman (Karen) and Raymond Engman (Lynn); Sister Marilyn Klapp (Edward); and our beloved Ricardo González.
A private committal service will be Saturday, June 11, 2022, in Memorial Park Cemetery, Galesburg. Chaplain Jordan Knight will officiate. There will be a visitation for both Rodney Engman and Richard Engman from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 2022, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel. Friends and family are invited to continue the Celebration of Life from 3:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Knoxville American Legion.
