Mr. Rollin "Rollie" G. Nordgren

Mr. Rollin Grahn “Rollie” Nordgren, 83, passed peacefully at 6:30 pm on Sunday, September 12, 2021, at Bickford Assisted Living in Rockford, Illinois, surrounded by loved ones.  He was under the care of Mercyhealth at Home Hospice.

Rollie was born in Galesburg, Illinois on June 17, 1938 to Helen Grahn Nordgren and Klaus Hillel Nordgren.  He is survived by his children Lyndee (Jim) Lewis of Neenah, Wisconsin, R.D. (Jayma) Nordgren of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Jody (Becky Pondel) Nordgren of Rockford, Suzie (John) Hahn of Roscoe, Judy Jennings of Spring, Texas, Nancy (Bob Johnson) Lawson of Spring, Texas, Mark Hurelbrink, Decatur, Illinois, and John Lawson of Galesburg, 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, and his sister Kay Laird of Galesburg.  His daughter Julie Hurelbrink Larson preceded him in death.

Rollie was married to Ruth Kjellander-Lawson, Donna Mitchell, and Betty Jo Lundquist-Olson, all of whom preceded him in death.

He graduated from Galesburg Senior High School in 1956 and attended Reedley College in California. Rollie and Ruth owned Nordgren Oil Company and co-owned M&R Oil Company in Knoxville, Illinois.  In addition to Rockford and Galesburg, Rollie lived in Bella Vista, Arkansas; Edinburg, Texas; and Leesburg, Florida.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he was stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington.

Cremation will be accorded.  A time to celebrate Rollie’s life will be held Sunday, October 3 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the American Legion Post #381, 546 State Route 41 in Abingdon. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Abingdon Chapel is in charge of arrangements for the family.
