Mr. Sidney P. Thrailkill

Mr. Sidney P. Thrailkill, 73, of Galesburg passed away at 6:01 pm Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

Sidney was born October 28, 1950, in Galesburg, the son of Paul and Harriette L. (McClead) Thrailkill. He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1968 and later married Debra Lishman on March 3, 1973.

His wife of 51 years, Debbie survives; as well as his children, Jason C. Thrailkill of North Ashburnham, Massachusetts, Jennifer M. (Tony) Taylor of Potomac, Illinois, Joel E. Thrailkill of Galesburg, and Jonathan P. Thrailkill of Dubuque, Iowa; his pride and joy, grandchildren, Abigail and Gabriel Thrailkill, Elijah and Noah Taylor, Camden Lester and Emmie Jay Thrailkill; two sisters, Sandra (the late Merle) Banks of Galesburg and Judy (Howard) Rowe of Bayfield, Colorado; a sister-in-law, Janet Davis and some bonus people in his life, Ammie Boucher of Leominster, Massachusetts, Laci Sargeant, Tania Gibbs and Waylon Cunningham all of Galesburg. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers-in-law, Roger Davis, and Gary Lishman.

Sidney worked for over 34 years for Butler Manufacturing as a shipping foreman and later for Blick Art Material for 12 years as a Warehouse Associate. Sidney was a crafty kind of guy, known for sewing his children their Halloween costumes and completing several quilts later in life. He was handy and quite knowledgeable about building or painting or remodeling.

Sidney had a love for the Chicago Bears and had an extensive collection of beer steins dating back to 1985 when the Bears last won the Super Bowl. He also had a love for the Chicago White Sox baseball team. He himself had participated in the Galesburg Babe Ruth Baseball League and continued playing for a short time in the minor leagues. Sidney was known as a long-time umpire for baseball in the Galesburg area.

Sidney had a nerdy side to him that included relaxing playing video games with his children and grandchildren. Their favorites were Super Mario and Minecraft.

Sidney’s wishes were to be cremated and gather in his honor. His Celebration will be held at Cedar Creek East/Smokin Willies, Sunday, March 3, 2024, beginning at 1:00 pm. Sidney and his family would greatly appreciate Chicago Bears or Chicago White Sox attire to be worn.
