Stephen M. Healey, 53, of Hopewell, Illinois, formerly of Galesburg, Illinois, died at 4:34 p.m. Tuesday, October 26, 2021, with his family at his side.
He was born September 3, 1968, in Galesburg, the son of Gerald D. and Connie L. (Moore) Healey. He married Sherry L. Thurman on August 9, 1997, in Galesburg.
He is survived by his wife of over 24 years, Sherry; his mother, Connie L. Healey of Galesburg; three daughters, Amber (Jacob) Irish of Green Valley, Illinois, Mackenzie (Skylar) Goodwin of Galesburg, and Emily Jones (Chris McNight) of Peoria; six grandchildren, Lilly, Eben, Jazlynn, Anna, Amaree, and Colson; a brother, Gregory Healey of Galesburg; two sisters, Gail (Jim) Coffman of Maquon, Illinois and Sue (Bill) Wark of Frisco, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.
Stephen was raised and educated in Galesburg, where he graduated from Galesburg High School in 1986 and earned his associate’s degree from Carl Sandburg College. He was a tool and die maker at Maytag for many years and later owned and operated The Grand Tap for 12 years.
Stephen was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. He enjoyed golfing, riding motorcycles, and scuba diving. He was also an avid movie buff who could easily offer movie scenarios and quotes.
Cremation will be accorded. A celebration of life will be 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, November 14, 2021 at the Knoxville American Legion.
