Mr. Stuart “Stubby” Peterson, 78, of Galesburg, Illinois died 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 10, 2021 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center Neurological ICU, Peoria, Illinois
He was born July 31, 1942 in Galesburg to Stuart and Harriet Peterson. He married Judy Stanners on November 30, 1963 in Galesburg. She survives.
Stubby and Judy were blessed with two sons, Scott Peterson of Galesburg and Steven (and Brenda) of Galesburg a brother, Joseph Peterson of Pleasanton, California, and five grandchildren, Trevor, Chance, Savannah, Sean, and Erik.
Stubby graduated from Galesburg High School in 1960. He attended the University of Illinois and then came home to farm. He was self-employed in farming with his father and later with his son Steven. Stubby and Steven went on to develop, manufacture, and market Striptill Equipment from all across the United States to Australia, China, Russia, Canada, and Mexico. He was an original member of the Grizzly 8 Club. Stubby enjoyed life at the fullest means possible. He enjoyed family vacations in the north during the summer and particularly loved the winter vacations in Florida. He loved being with his family, especially with the grandchildren.
Cremation will be accorded. Due to social distancing limitations related to the COVID-19 pandemic, a memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials can be made to the family.
