Mr. W. G. “Bill” Healey, 86, of Galesburg died 7:25 a.m. Monday, December 30, 2019 at his home.
He was born August 29, 1933 in Galesburg to F.C. and Adelia O. (Peterson) Healey. He married Marlene J. Brodrick, June 14, 1969 in Galesburg. She preceded him in death March 8, 2009.
Surviving are two sons, Shane (and Amber) Irons of Pueblo, Colorado and Kelly Healey of Galesburg, four daughters, Cathy Colvin of Littleton, Colorado, Julie Irons of Galesburg, Illinois, Sheryl Jones of Knoxville, Illinois, and Tammy (and Steve) Leaf of Knoxville, 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, John Healey and Jerry Healey, and two sisters, Marcille Curless and Betty Learsch.
Bill graduated from Galesburg High School in 1951. He served in the U.S. Navy for five years during the Korean War as a signalman. He then worked for Maytag Manufacturing Company in Galesburg for 42 years as a die setter and retired in 1992. He was of the Lutheran faith. He was a member of the American Legion Post #285 and VFW #2257 in Galesburg. Bill was a fan of Elvis Presley and certainly resembled him enough that some called Bill, “Elvis”.
Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 2, 2020 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel. Funeral will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 3, 2020 at the chapel. Chaplain Jordan Knight will officiate. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg.
