William Francis “Bill” Whitney, 91, Olathe, Kansas, formerly of Abingdon, Illinois died on Sunday, January 22, 2023, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center in Overland Park, Kansas.
Bill was born December 26, 1931, in Abingdon, the son of Joseph Franklin and Ann Ruth (Nelson) Whitney. He married Betty Jean Hoadley on February 2, 1951, at the Abingdon Christian Church. She preceded him in death on January 19, 2009.
Bill is survived by his children, Sherry Whitney of Liberty, Missouri, David (and Donna) Whitney of Olathe, Wayne (and Debbie) Whitney of New Braunfels, Texas, Susan (and John) Edwards of Independence, Missouri, seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Maralene Baughman, Shirley Whitney, Donna Oleski and Margie McIntire, and one brother, Lowell (Ozzie) Whitney.
Visitation is scheduled for 9:00-10:00 am, Friday, February 10, 2023, at the Abingdon Christian Church, with services beginning at 10:00 am. The burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Abingdon Christian Church. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services is assisting the family with arrangements.
