Mrs. Angelita "Angie" (Cervantez) Hollowell

Mrs. Angelita Hollowell 76, of Galesburg passed away peacefully at 10:19 a.m. surrounded by her loved ones on November 14, 2023 at her home.

She was born in Galesburg on December 19, 1946, the daughter of Augustine and Jessie (Rios) Cervantez. Angie married Paul Thomas Crosby on February 4, 1967. She later married Larry E. Hollowell in 2001 in Galesburg. Larry preceded her in death on July 2, 2015.

Angie worked for Maytag and Butlers manufacturing and in her later years, she worked at Knox County Nursing home as a house keeper before her retirement in 2013. She enjoyed collecting and had a Betty Boop and penny collection, among others. Angie was a very ornery and kind hearted woman who will be greatly missed. Especially at Christmas, where her house was the meeting point for friends and family. She always loved decorating and her yard and house would reflect the joyous season.

Surviving is her children, two daughters, Teresa (and Marc) Haynes of Galesburg, Sonjia Crosby of Bloomington, Illinois, and a son, Recardo (and Stacy) Crosby also of Galesburg. Angie is also survived by a brother, Augustine (and Dora) Cervantez in Oak Lawn, Illinois, and two sisters; Pauline Murillo of Chicago and Mary (and Alfred) Calstro, of Michigan City, Indiana. A grandson, Jordan Crosby, and many other beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Aside from her husband Larry, she is also preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Theresa Cervantez, and three brothers, Felix, Anthony, and Martin Cervantez.

Visitation will be held Monday, November 27, 2023 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Homes of Galesburg. Deacon Michael Crummer will be officiating. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery of Galesburg. Hinchliff-Pearson-West is honored to serve the family.
