Mrs. Betty Albert Obituary

Betty C. Albert, 94, of Galesburg, died at 5:30 a.m. Sunday, November 7, 2021, in Heartland Health Care Center.

She was born July 2, 1927, in Tennessee, Illinois, the daughter of Lawrence and Ruth (Ford) Buss.  She married Kenneth W. “Wendell” Albert on August 14, 1941, in Chicago.  He preceded her in death June 24, 2006.

She is survived by a daughter, Laurie (Ron) Albert Cooper of Galesburg; a grandson, Ryan (Kimberly Clyden) Cooper of Bradley, Illinois; a great grandson, Keegan Cooper; and a sister, Grace (Richard) Tomlinson of Desert Springs, California.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Lindsey Cooper; and siblings, Phyllis Lubinsky, Marjorie Gordon, Lawrence Buss Jr., Robert Buss, Russell Buss, Winifred Collins, Ruth Vadon, and Kyle Buss.

After graduating from Rushville High School, Betty earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Northwestern University.  She worked as a registered nurse for over 30 years before retiring.  She had worked at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg Research Hospital, and then provided in home care for many years.

Betty was a member of the First United Methodist Church.  She was an Elkette and she enjoyed donating to the Knox County Humane Society.  When Wendell was still living, they enjoyed boating time in Oquawka and wintering in Florida.

Cremation will be accorded.  No visitation or service is planned.  Memorial contributions may be made to the family or the Knox County Humane Society.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel is honored to serve the family.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
