Mrs. Beulah Dortch, 77, of Galesburg, passed away at 3:48 pm Wednesday, August 31, 2022, OSF St. Mary Medical Center.
Beulah was born to Cleveland and Ethel (Pugh) Dortch on February 25, 1945, in Parkdale, Arkansas where she was also raised. She later moved to Galesburg, and she spent the rest of her life raising her family.
Beulah is survived by her sons, Travis Dortch, and Sterling Nicholson; her siblings, Rosie Thomas of Chicago, Cleveland Earl Dortch of Texas, Ethel May Campbell of Parkdale, Arkansas, and Leroy Dortch of Chicago; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings, Charlie Dortch, Lee Morris Dortch, Clauzell Dortch, Nellie Johnson, Mazie Cobbs, Lucinda Coleman, Mary Dortch, Ellen Davidson, and Stella Watkins.
Beulah was a devout member of the Bethesda Baptist Church and loved every aspect of being an active member. When she wasn’t in church however, you could find Beulah out on a walk throughout Galesburg. Beulah took hers and other’s health very seriously. Going into the home healthcare field as a personal assistant for almost 30 years, while still finding time for herself to keep active physically and in the community. Beulah didn’t spend all of her time outside though. On some days she could be found in the kitchen, preparing dishes for herself and others to pass the time and ensure those close to her were well taken care of.
Visitation will be held from 11:00-Noon, Saturday, September 10, 2022, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Funeral service will follow at Noon with Reverend Toby Carlos officiating. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.
