Candace S. Parton, 72, of Galesburg, died at 3:12 a.m. Tuesday, October 26, 2021, in Heartland Healthcare Center while surrounded by family.
Candy was born on November 21, 1948 to Oliver and Mildred (Ewing) Clarke in Galesburg. It’s also where she met the love of her life John “Butch” Parton, later marrying in Knoxville. He precedes her in death.
Candy is survived by her sister Debbie Scherer of Galesburg; her special aunt Mary Honeyman of Knoxville; along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Tim Mealman, Gerald Clarke and Danny Clarke; and her nephew Danny Carl Clarke Jr.
Candy worked in housekeeping at OSF St. Mary’s in Galesburg for around 20 years, retiring in 2011. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing bingo. In her off time before she retired Candy and Butch both had become very involved with the Boy Scouts of America. She was always known to take great pride in her role as den mother.
Cremation will be accorded.
