Mrs. Carol F. (Hilton) Demery

Mrs. Carol F. Demery, 79, of Abingdon, Illinois died 6:20 p.m. Sunday, July 11, 2021 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg. 

She was born December 15, 1941 near London Mills, Illinois to Charles and Elva (Williamson) Hilton.  She married James “Jim” E. Demery, July 27, 1960 in Canton, Illinois.  He preceded her in death May 16, 2018. 

Surviving are two sons, James W. (and Darla) Demery of Bushnell, Illinois and Dale Singleton of Prairie City, Illinois, a daughter, Lori Demery of Abingdon, a step daughter, Yolanda Kelley of East Peoria, Illinois, a brother, Dennis Hilton of Abingdon, 14 grandchildren, Michael Kelley, Aaron Kelley, Jessica Smith-Harrison, Jillian (and Cory) Reffett, Jenna Beaudry, James F. (and Amanda) Demery, Zach J. Demery, Mark Demery, Kiel Thurman, Stephanie Thurman, Dylan Thurman, Angela McArdle, Rachael McArdle, and Ray McArdle, and 22 great grandchildren, Jadon, Kaydee, DeeDee, Marcus, Tessa, Jolena “Lovey”, Justine, Jaylah, John, Jackson, Juniper, Noah, Sir, Ava, Justin, Karlee, Hailey, Paisley, Aubree, Eian, Matthew, and Lexi.  She was preceded in death by her parents, a step son, Wendell Demery, two brothers, Lyle Hilton and Thomas Hilton, and a granddaughter, Jamie Smith. 

Carol graduated from Valley High School in 1959.  She worked as an aide for several area nursing homes, including, Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Knoxville, Illinois, The Care Center of Abingdon, and Prairie City Nursing Home.  She then was a waitress for Little King Restaurant in Galesburg until it closed.  She was a member of The Ascent Church in Galesburg.  Carol enjoyed Karaoke, watching her television shows, collecting dolls and reading the Bible.  Most of all, she loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. 

Cremation will be accorded.  A Celebration of Carol’s Life will be announced at a later date.  Memorials may be made to the family.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Abingdon Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
